For 5 years the Community Council have been supporting the swimming pool at Harlech through contribution from the precept.
We have allocated £4443 for the 23/24 year
In 22/23, we donated 22/23 £4314.04
It looks a very dark situation without support from local Councils and grants. It looks likely that the pool will close at the end of March.
We as Community Council have to make a quick decision, donate yes or no.
Rate payers of Llanbedr we are seeking your help.
Could you please let us know your thoughts by emailing cyngorllanbedr@gmail.com all correspondence will be kept anonymous.
The following statement is from Harlech and Ardudwy Leisure;
“It is with regret that Harlech and Ardudwy Leisure (HAL) are having to announce that due to the current energy costs and reduction in use of the Centre, that HAL is now facing significant financial difficulties and has reached a crisis point. We are sad to announce that the swimming pool will be closing before the end of March 2023 but the Cafe and Climbing Wall will remain open in the short-term, we are confident in raising some money over the coming weeks so that the Harlech Triathlon can take place on the 26 March in the centre. Attached is an update from the Board of Directors about the current situation and help required to keep the swimming pool open for the next few weeks and possibly a little longer but also to look at the long-term options for this Community Asset.”
A full press release (correct as of the 10th of March 2023) can be seen here.
ON MONDAY THE 27TH OF MARCH AT 7.30PM, THE COMMINUTY COUNCIL WILL BE MEETING TO DISCUSS THE MATTER. FOR A LINK TO JOIN VIRTUALLY, PLEASE CONTACT THE CHAIRMAN.
